Normal Sundays

Last Sunday my boys and I went "wash hunting".
When it rains here our "river" beds (normally dry)
begin to flow with water.  Not just normal water but RUSHING
water.  We decided to go in search of the best one.
(The day before this the water was rushing so much
that it overflowed onto a major road causing traffic to be rerouted for 5 hours!)
We did not get as much excitement as the day before but we
did see some foolish people allow their children to play in the fast moving water.
*side note: Here if you go past the barricades and get stuck/trapped, you can be fined
up to $5000 per emergency vehicle that comes to your rescue.

 safely watching
once a cop showed up on our side of the water,
the people on the other side scattered back to their homes.
Even safer.  The water was down stream and moving fast

Another wash but not as much.  We were surprised because
this was at the base of the Mt where it usually runs fastest.
Here is the rain we dwelt with the week before. Mind you
we were returning from a lake.
It was a hilly area with a bunch of rock slides.

Our truck after we drove through a rock slide.
This is a picture of each passenger door with damage
as well the window has scratches from the rocks.
Good thing we know a bodyman that can repair this.

Now turn to this Sunday August 5.  We were celebrating Ashley's
20th birthday at my parents house.  There was some rain.

Meanwhile, 10 miles away....the storm hit hard.  Reports are winds of 60+ MPH.
We come home to check on our chickens because a friend
told us their fence was knocked over due to the winds.
We go into the backyard and chickens are fine BUT
the trampoline and shed are gone.

I found them in the neighbors yard.  Mind you the neighbor is
quite a distance away.
